Nova Scotia should lead, not follow, discussion on clinical trials

HALIFAX, NS – Cape Breton West MLA Alfie MacLeod says with federal, provincial and territorial Health Ministers meeting in Halifax this week, he hopes Health Minister Maureen MacDonald will step up to the plate and take a leadership role in moving clinical trials of Liberation Therapy forward.

“With all of her colleagues here this week, I think now is the time for this Minister to take a leadership role in advancing clinical trials for Multiple Sclerosis patients here in Nova Scotia,” said MacLeod. “The federal government is supportive and other provinces are moving ahead. It’s our time.”

Nova Scotia has some of the highest incidences of MS in the country. MacLeod says this is the reason we should leading, not just following, this important debate.

“The scientific proof is piling up,” said MacLeod. “Will the Minister give Nova Scotia MS sufferers and their families some peace of mind and commit today that the province will participate in trials once the federal framework has been established?”
