Jan 14 2011HALIFAX – Progressive Conservative Caucus Chair, Keith Bain, issued the following statement today:
“The Progressive Conservative Caucus Office is moving from calendar year to fiscal year funding one year earlier than required in order to account for the departure of a member who resigned earlier this week.
As the Progressive Conservative Caucus Office moves its budgeting this year to a fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2011, we will voluntarily adjust the amount for the reduced caucus size.
This decision is consistent with our Leader Jamie Baillie's direction to run a tight ship, and set an example for others to follow.
At the House of Assembly Management Commission meeting Tuesday, the day after a Progressive Conservative member resigned from caucus, representatives of all parties supported a recommendation from the Speaker’s Office to move to a fiscal year.
The Progressive Conservative Caucus supported and respects that decision. Under the fiscal year formula adopted by the Management Commission, the Caucus Office could have maintained expected funding levels until March 31, 2012."
