HALIFAX, NS - Cape Breton West MLA Alfie MacLeod says silence from the NDP on when Liberation Therapy clinical trials will begin in Nova Scotia means patients will continue to suffer.
In the Legislature today, MacLeod asked Health Minister Maureen MacDonald for an update on when MS patients can expect clinical trials to start in Nova Scotia.
"As recently as November 22nd, the Minister was supporting Nova Scotia's involvement in clinical trials but when I asked for details today, she refused to answer," said MacLeod. "I thought we were finally going to get moving on this issue when she told the Legislature that her department was beginning to plan for it. But it seems the NDP have flip flopped again."
In the Legislature on November 22nd, MacDonald said “I and officials in my department are very much looking forward to that presentation so we can get on with planning our involvement.”
Today however, she refused to even acknowledge a plan was in the works or give an indication of when clinical trials may begin.
"The science supports Liberation Therapy and it's about time the NDP support Liberation Therapy," said MacLeod. "The promise the NDP made to MS suffers is just another promise that the NDP are going to break."
