HALIFAX, NS - Progressive Conservative leader Jamie Baillie applauded the work of the Coady International Institute today, calling the St. FX based institute “global change leaders” for the establishment of the successful International Centre for Women’s Leadership.

“Today we take pause to not only celebrate the achievements of women, but to refocus our efforts to overcome the obstacles that remain in the advancement of equality for women around the world,” said Baillie. “Change begins at home and there is no finer example of the leaders of that change than the Coady International Institute.”

The Coady Institute’s “Global Change Leaders” program is currently underway with 16 participants from 13 nations around the world. The women, respected leaders in economic development, aid work and justice, are participating in a program that bases its approach on the principles of the Antigonish Movement.

“The Coady Centre is helping to shape the leaders of tomorrow with the proven successful principles of the Antigonish Movement,” said Baillie. “As we mark International Women’s Day, nothing could make me more proud as a Nova Scotian than to see this remarkable institution continue to build a better world.”
